FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program
United Bank of Union is participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through December 31, 2010, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.
Noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are defined as:
-A transaction account that earns no interest. Example-demand deposit checking account that allows for an unlimited number of deposits and withdrawals at any time.
Other accounts that will be covered under this program are:
-NOW accounts that earn an interest rate of 0.25% or less from July 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010
-Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTAs)
Increased Coverage Information
FDIC deposit insurance temporarily increased from $100,000 to $250,000 per depositor through December 31, 2013.
